Mini-Symposia

Mini-symposia on current research topics in the fields of the SFB are organized by the doctoral researchers themselves unter the guidance of one of the PI. A mini-symposium lasts typically 1-2 days and includes 2-6 external speakers. This will give the students the possibility to learn from external renowned experts the status and challenges of a research field from a novel perspective and apply this knowledge immediately to understand a topic at the forefront of current research.

  • Control of Transport in Molecular Nanocontacts
March 26-27, 2015 at MPI in Stuttgart
The focus of this mini-symposium is on nanocontacts involving molecules, magnetism and superconductivity.
The topic mainly aims for the research taking place in the SFB 767 area C projects, but everyone is welcome.
Invited speakers: Katharina Franke (TU Berlin), Jonas Fransson (Uppsala Universitet, S), Emanuel Loertscher (IBM Zürich, CH), Khristian S. Thygesen (TU Denmark, DK), Alexander Weißmann (Universität Kiel)
    Poster session and lab tours

  • Spin-Density-Functional-Theory in Modern Magnetism
Monday June 25, 2012, University of Konstanz
Density-Functional-Theory (DFT) is a well-established method for investigating electronic as well as magnetic properties from first principles. After a short introduction into DFT this symposium focuses on its applications to magnetic systems and transport properties.
Here, basic concepts as well as modern DFT-based investigations are presented
Invited speakers: Jürgen Kübler, TU Darmstadt and László Szunyogh, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary)
Speakers: Dr. Rocio Yanes Díaz and Dr. Christian Wickles, University of Konstanz
